Novovibe Places API

Novovibe is a guide to newly opened places to eat, drink, sleep, shop and
visit. This is the read-only API behind the search box on the site. It is free
to use, needs no key, and answers JSON.

Languages

Every path starts with a language code. Active codes: en, es, fr, nl. Content
falls back to English wherever a translation is missing.

GET /{lang}/search

Searches places, cities, countries and towns in one call.

  q         the search text. Leave it out to get the newest places of one
            city or one category instead, capped at twenty five.
  city      city slug, keeps place hits inside that city. Needs country too.
  country   country slug, keeps place hits inside that country.
  category  category slug, keeps place hits inside that category.

Each result carries a type (place, city, country or locality), a name, a short
tagline, and the absolute url of its page on novovibe.com. Photos, when a place has one,
arrive as img (small) and imgPreview (medium). Place results also carry the
city name and the country flag code.

GET /{lang}/search-index

The twenty suggestions the site offers before anything is typed, ordered by how
close the visitor is. Same result shape as search.

GET /status

Health of the API: an overall verdict plus one result per check, for the
database and for the search index.

Fair use

This API answers one lookup at a time: search returns at most twelve places
per query, the index returns twenty suggestions. It is there so a client can
find a place, not so the catalogue can be copied. Harvesting the listings in
bulk, walking the endpoints to build a mirror, or reselling the data is not
allowed, and neither is training on it without asking us first. Stay around a
few requests per second, name your client in the User-Agent header, cache what
you fetch, and link back to the page you took a listing from.
